Sunday Pho-nday - Day 17

With only a couple more days left for our adventures in Thailand, we spent most of today feeling nostalgic and celebrating our completed projects and our time here. This morning, we attended church service, where the New Life Church put together a heartwarming sendoff ceremony for the two teams. Khem's father-in-law freestyled a song for us to bless our teams and the pastors for safe travels back to the US.

The church generously presented us with gifts and we went outside to take some pictures. We also signed the banner of our pictures that has been hung outside the church since we got here.

Leaving our mark at the New Life Church

After signing the banner and eating lunch with the Don Klang community, we headed back to take it easy and get some rest. Taylor, Andres, and Maddie went to the store with Ploy to get candy to give to the kids at our school at the dedication ceremony tomorrow.

The candy crew came back after getting some boba and we all took some nice relaxing naps before working on our final report and sustainability plan for our project. We headed over to the church for dinner and got to put together our own pho! It was also Ploy's Mom's birthday so we ate some delicious cake!

Matcha and Vanilla Birthday Cakes!

To continue the celebration, we presented gifts to Khem, Pastors Mike and Dar, Mary Lou, and Ploy.

Group pics without Maddie because she was watching the World Cup

Missing home a bit, we decided to end the night with some Texas Hold 'em using leftover candy as poker chips while listening to Maddie periodically scream at her computer while watching the world cup.

A wholesome Team 1 poker night

Tomorrow is our last day at the Ban Thap Ta Thaen school! Tune in tomorrow to see our dedication ceremony!
