Today we chased some waterfalls- seven to be exact. We started the day with breakfast, followed by a safety talk from Pastor Dar. Her advice: "Sometimes when you're having fun you forget you're jumping into a rock". Khem also told us that everyone better return in full pieces so we could all attend his party he was throwing that night. With that, we hopped in the van and were on our way. The drive started with Taylor explaining her idea for the Harlem Shake and/or a music video for Chasing Waterfalls by TLC, followed by absolute shock from everyone that she didn't know No Scrubs by TLC. This started a discussion of 90's top hits and a jam session. For the next three hours, we switched off on aux cord to try and stay excited (and not sleep) on the way to the Erawan Waterfalls. When we got to the national park, we ate a picnic that Pastor Dar prepared including "five star" chicken, sticky rice, and mashed potatoes. After fueling up, we started on our journey.
The girls of the team + Andres, along with some members of Thailand 138 booked it up the mountain, briefly stopping at each waterfall but forging on to level 7. By the time we reached the top, everyone was soaking wet. Unfortunately, this was from sweat and not actually from swimming in the waterfalls. When we reached level 7, we all were eager to jump in until we heard Taylor screaming. She was screaming because we did not realize the water was full of fishes that nibble on the dead skin on your feet. The team had mixed feelings about our "free pedicure". To avoid the fish, we crawled up the waterfall and posed for some pictures instead!
After pictures, we packed up and headed back down. On the way down, we ran into Kevan and Reese on their way up to 7. Turns out they stopped at level 5 and took full advantage of their free pedicures before they went up to level 7. On the way down, Taylor and Maddie stopped at level 4, and slid down a waterfall slide and then moved on to level 2 for some more pictures and swimming.
Sara, Andres and I went to level 3 (where there were minimal flesh eating fish) and swam around and posed for some more photo ops. Have to get that perfect pic for insta.
At 4 o'clock, we were kicked out of the water because the park was closing and we made our way back down. When we reached the parking lot we changed into dry clothes and stopped for coffee and ice cream while we waited for Kevan and Reese (not sure what they did after we saw them at level 7, they had their own adventures today).
When everyone was back, we headed home. Jet, our driver, jetted us home and got us back in a quick two hours! We all slept in the car, exhausted from the day, and rested before the party that was awaiting us! When we got home, we went across the street to Khem's house. Khem had food and music waiting for us, gave us a tour of his house, and announced that this was a party for all the graduates! We ate and drank, pet some dogs and cats, swung on Khem's outdoor swing and celebrated the end of a successful week and our amazing graduated team mates.
Currently, I am eating Tiramisu Oreo thins (very yummy) and watching my team and team 138 struggle to learn the German version of card Monopoly (i think??)... I guess I will try to join in, but it might be too far gone by now. Until tomorrow!
