The day started off just like any other--waking up at the crack of dawn to enjoy a good ole cup of joe and breakfast before heading off to the worksite. However, on the way to work we had to take a detour from our typical route and enjoy the scenic views because a truck had gotten stuck in the mud and caused a blockage in the road (due to the previous' night rainstorm).
Upon our arrival, we split off into teams to simultaneously focus on the kitchen interior subsystem as well as the piping subsystem. Some people worked on assembling the sinks we had picked up from Bangkok the day before and the rest of us continued digging trenches.
While taking a short break, the cook came out with some bright pink noodles for us to try and they were absolutely delicious! By the time lunch rolled around we had successfully finished the piping pit leading to the kitchen as well as the drainage pit.
After lunch some of us went back to the worksite and some of us went shopping in town to get some additional materials needed for the piping and the sink. After a morning of hard work and some shopping we decided to replenish our energy by getting some local iced Thai tea and taste testing different flavors of Coca Cola found in the 7-11.
Meanwhile, the rest of the team completed tiling the main countertop and also installed the shorter countertop the cook requested.
Then all of the kids were released from class early and for the remainder of the day we played multiple different games and sports with them from volleyball to soccer to ultimate frisbee. We had a great time learning their names as well as teaching them our own and even got to teach them the longhorn sign!
